From Friday to Sunday, minerals took center stage for the staff of the Institute of Exploration Geosciences at the University of Miskolc. On Friday, our colleagues (Csilla Balassa, Ferenc Kristály, Máté Leskó, Sándor Szakáll and Norbert Zajzon) presented their current research at the lecture session titled “Minerals of Hungary – 60 Years of Heritage and 10 Years of New Results in the Light of Two Jubilee Volumes”, held at the Hermann Ottó Museum.
On Saturday and Sunday, the 42nd Miskolc Mineral Festival took place, which could not have been realized without the organizational work of our colleagues. At the Mineral Festival, visitors could not only admire the minerals presented by exhibitors but also take part in numerous educational programs. Among other things, they could learn interesting facts about the Mineral of the Year (pyrite) and the Fossil of the Year (nautilus).
